Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer

I have been using this moisturizer for a few years now without any issues. But the most recent bottle I opened just smells awful! It's a very pungent disgusting smell that won't go away unless I've washed my face several times. Upon reviewing the comments below, it appears I am not the only one and the other users have had no response from Jack Black. I guess it's time to find a new line.

Unfortunately my order was placed through shoppers drugmart and it's exceeded the 30 days return. But I am definitely not happy with this purchase as it is an issue with the manufacture itself not the seller.

I received my order and used the Clean Break Moisturizer. Unfortunately, the small of the product was absolutely disgusting this time --- I can only describe it as the smell of a moldy mildew wet towel. I've used this product 50+ times in the past, and never had this issue. I'm not sure if the ingredients were changed or if the product I received was expired/defective, but I can't use it because of the awful smell. Both of the moisturizers had the same awful smell.

Based on my research, it does seem like they changed the formula so I would avoid this product going forward. I emailed Jack Black about this and haven’t received a response to rectify the situation. They have just lost a long time customer.

I have bought this moisturizer as well as many other Jack Black products at least a dozen times in the past purchasing from Sephora and most recently, online directly from Jack Black Canada. To this point, I have had no issues with any of the products I have purchased. Having spent over $90 on two small bottles of Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer, one would expect a quality product.
The issue I have with my recent purchase is when using the first bottle, I found that it has an awful, old, musty scent when applied to my face. I tried the second bottle the next day and found the same results leaving them both unusable. The moisturizer presents as if they are both very old, expired product.
I did write to [****] on 5 April, 2025 with my concerns about the moisturizer. In that email, I had attached a picture of the bottom of the two containers showing the lot number of them hoping it will help in case this is an issue with an entire lot of the product. The lot number is the same on both bottles and is 24256L1280.
It has now been 10 days and there has been no response whatsoever which has left me even more disappointed and angry. I will certainly not be purchasing any further products from Jack Black unless there is rectification of the situation.

I should have started using this year’s ago.
I love the way it makes my skin feel and have definitely noticed an improvement when I look in the mirror.

There are ingredients on the box which are not declared here or Sephora.com, including Polysorbate 60. I thought it would be fungal acne safe but it’s not.
